Sister Mary Sheila Burns Legacy Society
School teacher, social worker, fundraiser, pastoral minister and college administrator, Sister Mary Sheila Burns initiated the transformation of Marian University from a small, Catholic college for women to a comprehensive liberal arts college. This transformation provided Marian University with the opportunity to prepare individuals from all walks of life to be influential citizens to their respective communities and the world.
The Sister Mary Sheila Burns Legacy Society was founded in 1995 to recognize alumni and friends who, like Sister Mary Sheila, have made a commitment to Marian University's future. These individuals have included Marian University in their wills or other estate plans, or have established an endowed scholarship fund to make a private education more affordable for our students.
